Marieke Pauwels
Marieke Pauwels is an acclaimed Belgian artist who has made her mark on the world of contemporary ceramics. With a Master's degree in Fine Arts and as the current head of the Ceramics Department at the PXL MAD School of Arts in Hasselt, she has a rich academic and artistic background. Since the beginning of her career, Pauwels has exhibited regularly at home and abroad, pushing boundaries and breaking conventions with her innovative approaches to the medium. Her work is characterised by an in-depth exploration of themes such as religion, folk culture and the relationship between matter and energy. Pauwels has gained international recognition, with several awards to her name and invitations to lecture around the world. Her creative energy is fuelled by her residencies in Japan, the Netherlands and China, which continue to inspire and enrich her work. As a dedicated teacher, Pauwels has shared her knowledge and passion with generations of artists for three decades, leaving a lasting impact on art education and the art community in general.
