About

Annelies Ysebaert launched Galerie Ganache in Ghent in 2014. A pop-up in Knokke followed in 2017, and in 2018 Gallery Ysebaert was founded in Sint-Martens-Latem. The focus lies on contemporary art, bringing together sculpture, painting and installation. Over the years the direction has become ever sharper: the gallery has chosen to work with a select group of artists with whom it builds long-term collaborations.

Through its location, Gallery Ysebaert naturally situates itself within the strong artistic tradition of the artists' village of Sint-Martens-Latem. Within its walls, everything revolves around central tensions: what beauty and aesthetics mean, the organic versus the constructed, the monochrome and abstract versus the figurative, or the mythical in contrast with the mechanical. The sculpture garden behind the gallery is a place that keeps growing, where the works are in constant dialogue with the organic and with the whims of nature.

Mission and Vision

Gallery Ysebaert represents both established and emerging artists. The artist stands at the centre of everything the gallery does: from supporting their artistic vision to their growth within the art world, to, of course, the exhibitions at the gallery in which artist and work truly come into their own.

The gallery believes in long-term partnerships, because only time can foster real growth. Gallery Ysebaert sees itself as the custodian of a body of work, year after year. Publications, research, external collaborations, education and community engagement serve as supporting pillars: they enrich each artist's trajectory and open the way to a full-fledged art career.

Every exhibition is curated with a strong, considered vision and with the ambition of achieving museum-level quality, deliberately blurring the line between commercial gallery and cultural institution.

The mission of Gallery Ysebaert is to support artists in a sustainable way: structural collaborations with the gallery's core artists, and project-based collaborations with guest artists. Within its walls, we curate carefully composed exhibitions. Beyond its walls, the gallery works to position and establish its artists both nationally and internationally within the broader art field.
