Peter Beyls
Peter Beyls is an interdisciplinary artist who works at the intersection of computer science and art, developing generative systems in the fields of music, visual arts and hybrid formats. Beyls initially studied electronic engineering and then music history, music analysis and sound engineering at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In 1974, he studied computer music with Tamas Ungvary at EMS in Stockholm. In 1977, he became a visiting lecturer at the Slade School of Art, University College London. Beyls obtained a PhD in computer science from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom. He published extensively, particularly on early symbolic AI and art, machine learning in real-time interactive music systems, cellular automata and various aspects of algorithmic art.
